James Leavesley, CEO of CrowdControlHQJames Leavesley, CEO of CrowdControlHQ, the UK's leading social media risk management and compliance platform, was today named as one of three directors shortlisted as the 2014 “Institute of Directors Young Director of the Year” in the West Midlands Region.

The awards were celebrated at a champagne breakfast at Edgbaston Stadium. Hosted by well-known local broadcaster and journalist Arti Halai, the guests were joined by senior board members from the IoD in London and businesses across the Region.

The Young Director of the Year award recognises a Midlands based director, under the age of 42, who has been instrumental in driving and developing a business within the region. The judges assessed the candidates on a number of attributes including their leadership credentials, strategy for growth, initiatives for increasing employee engagement, professional development opportunities for staff and their contribution to the region, outside of their daily business.

James was acknowledged by the judges as the footprint for businesses leaders of the future, with strong investment in his own learning through his MBA, a talented linguist with genuine international business experience having spent several years working in Russia and strong leader of a innovative technology business which was supporting West Midland’s ambitions to be at the heart of all things digital.

“I am delighted to have made the shortlist for this award and see it as a reflection of all the hard work from all of our team over the last few years. Technology businesses can find it hard to compete against the more traditional and well established business models at awards like these, so this recognition by the Institute of Director is fantastic.

"We will continue to develop our business and build our customer base and have announced two more client wins, Welsh Water and The Garden Centre Group in the last two weeks. We have a strong pipeline and I expect to announce more client wins in the next few weeks”, said James.

John Phillips, Regional Director (West Midlands) for the Institute of Directors said,

"James was acknowledged by the judges as the footprint for businesses leaders of the future, with strong investment in his own learning through his MBA, a talented linguist with genuine international business experience having spent several years working in Russia and strong leader of a innovative technology business which was supporting West Midland’s ambitions to be the hub of all things digital."

James Villarreal, Chair of Young Institute of Directors said,

"We were thrilled to hear that James had made the 2014 shortlist for Young Director of the Year for the West Midlands. He is a great role model and very popular member of the IoD having spent many hours mentoring and supporting fellow business leaders. His genuine International pedigree also sets him apart, particularly as we continue as a Region to compete on an International stage."
