The British Venture Capital Association (BVCA) has recognised the success of local business, CrowdControlHQ by naming it as a finalist for Midlands BVCA Venture Capital-backed Management Team of the Year.

The regional awards are the first stage on a path that climaxes at the national awards ceremony in London on 18 June, with regional winners announced approximately two weeks before this date.

CrowdControlHQ is a leading social media risk management and monitoring system. Founded by James Leavesley and Calum Brannan in 2009, the business is experiencing growth across the private and public sector and it now counts some leading brands and major institutions among its clients including, British Gas, Gala Bingo, Serco Leisure, The Garden Centre Group and West Midlands Police.

After 18 months Midven, the leading provider of venture capital funding to both early stage and established, fast growing small and medium sized businesses in the Midlands, invested in the business alongside Minerva, the Midlands business angels network. The investment was key to supporting the growth plans of the business as demand for its social media management software grew.

In December 2012 further funds were raised with additional investment from Midven and new investment from Finance Birmingham. CrowdControlHQ has quickly become one of the leading players in the market with a reputation for delivering not only leading technology software, to help teams manage the growing demands of social media but also an excellent customer service experience, which is tailored to the specific requirements of a client.

James Leavesley, CEO of CrowdControlHQ said:

“We are thrilled that CrowdControlHQ has been selected as a finalist.  We have worked tirelessly to ensure that we stay one step ahead of the social media environment, which has evolved dramatically over the past five years.

Our clients don’t just want technology but real people to talk to, especially in times of crisis, when their brand reputation in social media is under threat, so we have had to focus on developing a very strong customer service ethos. We are very grateful to our investors as they have enabled us to focus on getting both the technology and the service bit right.”

Steven Greenall, investment director at Midven commented:

“I am delighted that CrowdControlHQ has made the shortlist for these prestigious awards. It is a reflection of both the dedication of James and his team and the quality of the product they have developed.”
